The easyTRX3S is the latest generation AIS transponder with excellent performance and features. With 5 Watt power and higher transmission speed, the EasyTRX3S increases safety on board.
This easyTRX3S model A20018 is an AIS transponder with
NMEA2000 and can be connected via
WiFi or a
USB cable to your laptop, PC, iPad, tablet or smartphone. The transponder is equipped with an
internal GPS antenna and an
internal splitter.
With the help of the internal splitter you can use the (current) VHF antenna of your marine radio to receive and send AIS messages. You simply connect both the VHF antenna and marine radio to your AIS transponder. For the connection between your AIS and the marine radio, you need a
VHF cable. This way, you don't have to mount a second VHF antenna on board.
The AIS transponder needs its own GPS receiver. It is not possible to transmit a GPS signal from, for example, an on-board GPS. The internal GPS antenna is sufficient for positioning on board polyester or wooden ships. For ships with a metal superstructure, an
external GPS antenna is required.
The easyTRX3S has many connection options
including: 1x NMEA2000, 3x NMEA0183 (In / Out), WiFi and USB port.
Other models of the easyTRX3S also have a LAN port and/or a DVBT2/FM tuner.
AIS AdviceDue to all the different options available for AIS transponders, it can sometimes be difficult to make a good choice. For this purpose, we have compiled a handy questionnaire from which, after answering the questions, the most suitable AIS transponder for you will be offered.

Additional explanation of terms:AIS Class B with SOTDMA technologyThis type of AIS automatically transmits your position, just like commercial shipping. SOTDMA (Self-Organized Time Division Multiple Access) technology gives your AIS transceiver priority when transmitting, especially in busy areas. This makes you more visible to other vessels ? faster and more reliably than standard AIS Class B.
NMEA2000 NMEA2000 and NMEA0183 are ways in which on-board devices share data, such as GPS information. NMEA2000 is newer, faster and easier to interface than NMEA0183.
VDM VDM is the standard format in which AIS messages are sent. This ensures good compatibility with navigation software such as WinGPS.
ME SENSE integration / BOAT MONITORINGME SENSE is a smart system that allows you to monitor, for example, battery voltage, bilge pump or temperature on board via an app.
